Frequently asked questions
What is home health care?
Home health care is skilled medical care your doctor orders for you at home: nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapy, medical social work and home health aide visits. Visits are part-time and follow a plan of care your doctor reviews.
Who qualifies for home health care in Tampa?
You may qualify if your doctor or an allowed practitioner orders it, you need part-time skilled nursing or therapy, and leaving home takes considerable and taxing effort. Medicare also requires a face-to-face visit related to the reason for care. Call us and we will help you check.
Does Medicare cover home health care?
Medicare can cover home health care when you qualify. We accept Traditional Medicare, plus long-term care plans and private pay, and we verify your coverage and explain any costs before care starts. Medicare Advantage coverage and our participation depend on your specific plan, so we verify both before care starts.
How do I start home health care?
Ask your doctor or the hospital discharge planner to send a referral to Making Memories Home Health, or call us at (813) 931-0015 and we will contact your doctor. A nurse or therapist then visits your home to build your plan of care.
What is the difference between home health care and home care services?
Home health care is skilled, doctor-ordered care that Medicare can cover. Home care services are non-medical help at home; we offer them as private duty in-home care: personal care, meals, light housekeeping, laundry and family respite, by the hour and paid privately or through long-term care insurance.
Which areas do you serve?
We visit patients at home in Hillsborough, Polk and Manatee counties, including Tampa, Brandon, Riverview, Plant City, Temple Terrace, Lakeland, Winter Haven and Bradenton. Our office is on N Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa.
